Like DIPA Zrt., Pénzjegynyomda Zrt. also had an integrated quality and environmental management system in accordance with ISO 9001 and 14001. Its parent company, the Hungarian National Bank, has been operating and having its EMAS-compliant environmental management system verified since 2011. Among the MNB’s strategic goals is the implementation of EMAS at its subsidiaries involved in cash production. In 2014, KÖVET collaborated with the Banknote Printing Works on the aforementioned program, which aimed to develop an environmental performance indicator system compliant with the EMAS regulation. The goal of the project, which ran from 2016 to 2017, was to review and develop the environmental management system and prepare the company for certification under the EMAS Regulation. The system was certified by an external accredited certifier on November 29, 2017, and the company was registered by the Competent Body as an EMAS-certified organization under number HU-000041.
