Our Strázsa Guesthouse is located in the heart of the Kiskunság region, surrounded by charming natural scenery. It takes its name from the nearby 125-metre-high Strázsa “Mountain.” This is a place where traditional hospitality meets 21st-century comforts. Our six-hectare property offers visitors the peace and tranquillity of the countryside.
We are currently unable to accommodate guests at the farm. We have switched entirely into “support mode”! We have taken on the task of providing care and support to families fleeing Ukraine who were forced to come to Hungary with a disabled or ill family member to escape the war. Behind every door lies an incredible story carried in the hearts of those who live here. We can hardly imagine what they have been through… Yet keeping silent weighs heavily on them, while not everyone is able to talk about their experiences.
Sometimes they silently show us photographs of their former homes, now destroyed. We have a great responsibility in how we respond to them.
Being a refugee is, in itself, an extremely challenging situation. What makes our programme special is that it supports people living in particularly difficult circumstances who require a higher level of assistance. The professional team is supported by qualified mentors, nursing and care staff, and ten Ukrainian-speaking colleagues.
For people who have experienced trauma, it is important to belong to a community they can rely on. As part of the current development programme, Strázsa has also opened a support centre in Budapest, where people can take part in community activities in addition to receiving assistance with everyday administrative matters. Thanks to the funding, summer camps can be organised, and opportunities are provided to expand participants’ knowledge of citizenship and intercultural issues.
Staff also participate in environmental and equal-opportunities awareness-raising activities, as well as sustainability and equal-opportunities training.
The funding provided through the project aims to help refugees become more independent and capable of looking after themselves. For those who cannot do so, Strázsa Tanya provides assistance requiring a high level of professional expertise and experience, enabling them to live their everyday lives in dignified conditions tailored to their individual needs.
